After reading reports of tainted liquor and bartenders in mexico possibly drugging people I have a story from our vacation that i would w like to share with you and your readers. the story starts out with me and my wife searching online to find the best of the best all-inclusive resorts with nice accommodations, beautiful beach, good food. We both agree with the resort El dorado Maroma in Playa del Carmen, we choose the 7 night package for 2 at the tune of $5000 for the stay, needless to say we had high hopes at that price. We arrive at the resort in march 2017 and after getting settled in we decided to go to one of the swim up bars on site and get our vacation started off with a few drinks to relax from a hectic day of travel. after having 3 or 4 drinks i noticed my wife started acting intoxicated and becoming somewhat agitated, i never suspected anything was wrong at this point except for my wife mentioning that her drinks tasted bitter. I never really kept track of the time but it couldn't have been more than 20 to 30 minutes latter when my wife and her attitude became unbearable, along with her seeming super drunk, I became somewhat embarrassed of the situation, because a few people were starting to notice her behavior,so i left and went back to the room which had a balcony that overlooked the swim up bar and tried to keep an eye on her while at the same time wondering what i could have done to cause her being somewhat hostile towards me. while viewing her from the balcony she started floating on her back in the pool, this went on for so long that a person on the edge of the pool nearby tried to get her attention to no avail and then he turned to his buddy and said "Hey there's a dead girl in the pool" they laughed and went on. I still didn't know what was going on and didn't want to be embarrassed in public anymore so i called the front desk and told them i couldn't find my wife and asked them to find and bring her to the room.several minutes latter i recieved a call that they had located her but they needed me to come down to the bar area. When i arrived to the bar area, my wife had a bear hug on a tree and wouldn't let go,she was awake but not responding to me or anyone else talking to her ,after a couple of minutes i was able to free her arms from the tree and started walking with her back to our room when i was stopped by a person working for El dorado Maroma, i believe a concierge, and they said if this kept up they would call the police .With most people being afraid to be involved with the police in mexico .i went along with the concierge, which was a woman, when she suggested putting my wife in room 205 till possibly morning. at this point they made me feel like i was the problem and that my wife was afraid to be around me.It was maybe an hour or so after i had returned to my room by myself that i recieved another call that they needed my help in room 205 where they had placed my wife. I walked into room 205 to see my wife completely naked and very distraught on the bathroom floor, i couldn't understand what had happened, so i dressed her and together we went back to our room. The next morning my wife had no recollection of anything after the first 2 or 3 drinks at the swimup bar the previous day. We still to this day don't know if my wife was served bootleg liquor or drugged and sexually assaulted that night . I feel like a naive person to let something like this happen to someone i love but until i saw your website i thought the expensive all-inclusive resorts were safe
