My husband and I took an anniversary trip to Riviera Maya at the Iberostar paraiso beach. We are both regular drinkers, and know when we’ve had enough and when to stop. On our third day there we were relaxing by the pool, and decided to have some drinks at the swim up bar. Keep in mind we had already been there for 2 days, and had been having 6 plus drinks each through ought the day, drinking water in between and feeling completely fine. We were on our fifth margarita over the time span of 3 hours. We decided to finish our drink and then head to the beach. As we stepped out of the pool I completely blacked out. I have no recollection of going to the beach or even getting back to our room. All I know is we got back to our room and passed out for 5 hours, missing our dinner reservation. Our clothes were soaking wet and I started to remember that our room key had gone missing on the beach and we had to go to the lobby to get a new one. After that I can’t remember anything. My husband also blacked out as soon as we got out of the pool and also doesn’t remember how we got back to the room. He also doesn’t remember him puking but I do although it’s very fuzzy. At first we thought maybe we just drank too much, but that’s very unusual for us. We have both never gotten blacked out before and always know when we’ve hit our limit. We didn’t feel hung-over after, just very fuzzy and kind of dazed and tired, we slept for 11 hours that night. We both feel like something was done to our drink. After reading some of these stories we feel very lucky that nothing worse happened.
