After reading everyones stories I feel lucky that, even though I was violated a couple of times while living in Playa del Carmen, I feel very lucky that I just lost the property I bought & didn't loose my life! What I did loose was my 5 star residential resort house I was building just south of Playa...I couldn't figure out why no one was contacting me when I put it up for sale...after 4 real estate companies, & my own sign I finally printed I found out the developer had his employees steal all the For Sale signs!! Consequently I have lost a lot of $ and just walked away. They take your $ but NEVER let you get it back is what I experienced. This not only happened to me but all the other private owners they had sold a lot to. Their response is that they have that right!? I never want to go back to a greedy unsafe country.
