I was in Cancun December 2016 as I didn't lose a family member I was def scared out of my mind. I found this site after I had booked but went any ways. But I was more prepared than before. I had my 3 young kids with us. We booked thru a popular . Com and when we arrived to our 5 star resort they would not honor the rate that was contracted. They told me I had to pay them $1,000. More a night. I frantically called who we booked thru and they talked to the resort management and they said too bad. Management stared us down and in a Scary way there was scary security staring us down near the entrance. The .com was trying to find me a different place to stay after faxing and pleading with them the rate they accepted from them and signed off on but the resort wouldn't let us leave or honor the price. It was late 3 kids but Now since I was pleading and crying and trying to hide my anger at times cuz of your site reading the horror stories I was now forced into paying them $2k for the night. So we stayed still forced to pay $2k for one night and I was on the phone the whole night trying to find a new place for in the morning plus I was freaking out. We did not eat or drink. Called my cc company bank account cards the whole Tammany loved ones at home. the next morning we went to leave and they said I owed an additional $600 dollars after begging and pleading and crying the management would not budge he just stared at me again I was like I don't have it please just let us leave security showed at the entrance again and I didn't said fine get me the hell out of here after paying I did not sign any of the hotel charge slips or the cc slips. 2.5 hours later they let up on making us miserable crying and held ransom. Yep 2.5 hours of going to the back coming back to the desk to talk to me then disappearing then no one knew what was going on . I did not yell or be rude.... I tried to be firm but I couldn't at times hold back my tears.... they were doing everything to extort us and intimidate us. The . Com compensated my entire stay from that resort and paid for my 6 days at our new resort. Apologized completely. There are no rules and to be honest the resorts can do what they want. They can be cruel and horrific and I will tell u if it wasn't for this site and these warnings I wouldn't of been prepared. I honestly didn't think it would happen to us but it did, but because I read these stories I did what I could to protect us from what could of. Because of this site I made sure my husband and I both had separate cc on us money in 2 separate bank accounts 2 separate debit cards, and my oldest son had an emergency card on him. We were able to enjoy our vacation and treated well at the next resort but I will tell u we proceeded very cautiously the next 7 days.
